The peaceful atmosphere of the North Woods of Quebec can be deceptive. Norman Stroll, a retired Wall Street broker, and his son, Brad set out for a two week wilderness adventure, just as they have done every autumn for many years. On what seems to be a routine journey, a series of small mistakes leads to a near catstrophic result. A rain-gorged river flings their canoe against a boulder leaving the men stranded with little food. From that instant the lives of both men begin changing--radically and rapidly. The two face starvation, hypothermia, near fatal accidents, storms, the onset of winter, and the prospect of a lonely death. |
